Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
The Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU) is responsible for caring for patients who have undergone surgery and are in the recovery process from anesthesia. The nurse will monitor and assess the patient's condition post-operation, provide appropriate care, and ensure a smooth transition to the next level of care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor patients post-surgery and assess their condition
2. Administer medications as prescribed by the physician
3. Provide care and support to patients and their families during the recovery process
4. Monitor vital signs and notify the physician of any changes in the patient's condition
5. Assist in the transfer of patients to the next level of care
6. Document patient care accurately and maintain patient records
7. Follow infection control protocols and ensure a safe environment for patients
8. Collaborate with the healthcare team to provide comprehensive care to patients
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license
2. BLS and ACLS certification
3. Experience working in a PACU or critical care setting is preferred
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills
5. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-pressure environment
6. Knowledge of post-anesthesia care and patient assessment
7. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively
