Job Title: Endoscopy Nurse
Job Summary:
An Endoscopy Nurse is responsible for providing care to patients undergoing diagnostic and therapeutic endoscopic procedures. They work alongside physicians and technicians to ensure the safety and comfort of patients before, during, and after procedures. Endoscopy Nurses must have a strong understanding of gastrointestinal anatomy and physiology, as well as proficiency in endoscopic equipment and procedures.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare patients for endoscopic procedures by obtaining medical history, explaining the procedure, and addressing any concerns
- Assist physicians during procedures by handing them instruments, monitoring vital signs, and providing support
- Administer medications and sedatives as directed by the physician
- Monitor patients during and after procedures to ensure safety and provide comfort
- Document patient care before, during, and after procedures
- Educate patients on post-procedure care and follow-up instructions
- Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license
- Certification in gastroenterology nursing or endoscopy nursing preferred
- BLS and ACLS certification
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
- Attention to detail and critical thinking skills
