Job Title: NICU Nurse
Job Summary:
The NICU Nurse provides specialized care for newborn infants who are premature, critically ill, or in need of close monitoring. They work in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU) to provide continuous medical care and support to these vulnerable patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor vital signs and assess newborn infants' conditions.
2. Administer medications and interventions as prescribed by the healthcare team.
3. Collaborate with neonatologists, pediatricians, and other healthcare professionals to provide comprehensive care.
4. Educate parents on how to care for their newborns and prepare them for discharge.
5. Maintain accurate patient records and documentation.
6. Respond to emergencies and provide life-saving interventions when necessary.
7. Ensure a safe and sterile environment for newborn infants.
8. Participate in ongoing training and professional development to stay current on best practices.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Current RN license with specialization in neonatal care.
2. BLS and NRP certification required.
3. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
4. Ability to work in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
5. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
6. Ability to work collaboratively in a healthcare team.
