Job title: Operating Room Registered Nurse (RN)
Job Summary:
The Operating Room RN is responsible for providing safe and efficient care to patients undergoing surgical procedures in the operating room. The RN assists the surgical team by preparing the operating room, providing patient care before, during, and after surgery, and ensuring patient safety throughout the surgical process.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Prepare the operating room for surgical procedures, ensuring all equipment and supplies are ready for use.
2. Assist the surgical team during procedures by passing instruments, providing retraction, and anticipating the needs of the surgeon.
3. Monitor patients before, during, and after surgery, assessing their condition and providing appropriate care.
4. Administer medications and IV fluids as prescribed by the physician.
5. Collaborate with other healthcare professionals to coordinate patient care and ensure a positive surgical outcome.
6. Maintain sterile technique throughout the surgical process to prevent infection.
7. Document patient care and observations accurately and timely in the medical record.
8. Provide education and support to patients and their families before and after surgery.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. RN license in the state of practice.
2. BLS and ACLS certification.
3. Minimum of 2 years of operating room experience.
4. Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Attention to detail and strong critical thinking skills.
7. Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team.
