Job Title: RN Observation Unit (Med/Surg Skill Set)
Job Summary:
The RN Observation Unit (Med/Surg Skill Set) will be responsible for providing direct patient care in an observation unit setting. This individual will assess patients, administer medications, collaborate with the healthcare team, and ensure optimal patient outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in medical-surgical nursing and possess excellent communication and critical thinking skills.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assessing patients and developing individualized care plans
2. Administering medications and treatments as prescribed
3. Monitoring patient conditions and reporting changes to healthcare team
4. Collaborating with physicians, nurses, and other healthcare professionals
5. Educating patients and families on healthcare management and treatments
6. Maintaining accurate medical records and documentation
7. Providing emotional support and guidance to patients and families
8. Ensuring a safe and therapeutic environment for patients
9. Participating in quality improvement initiatives and continuing education
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid RN license
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in medical-surgical nursing
- BLS and ACLS certifications required
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities
- Ability to work in a fast-paced and dynamic environment
- Knowledge of electronic medical records systems
- Commitment to providing high-quality patient care
