Job Title: Intensive Care/Coronary Nurse (ICU)
Job Summary:
The Intensive Care/Coronary Nurse (ICU) plays a crucial role in providing specialized care to critically ill patients in the intensive care unit. They collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to monitor and treat patients with acute conditions, provide life-saving interventions, and offer emotional support to patients and their families during these challenging times.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Monitor and assess patients' conditions in the ICU
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians
3. Operate and maintain specialized medical equipment
4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to create individualized care plans
5. Educate patients and their families on their condition and treatment options
6. Provide emotional support to patients and families during times of crisis
7. Document patients' progress and communicate with the healthcare team
8. Adhere to hospital protocols and standards of care
9. Participate in ongoing education and training to stay current on best practices in critical care nursing
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Bachelor's degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Certification in Critical Care Nursing (CCRN) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience in an intensive care/coronary unit
- Strong clinical assessment and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment
- Compassionate and empathetic attitude towards patients and their families
