Job Title: Charge Nurse (SNF)
Job Summary:
The Charge Nurse in a Skilled Nursing Facility (SNF) is responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and ensuring that patient care is delivered in an efficient and compassionate manner. They collaborate with physicians, therapists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement care plans for residents.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Supervise and delegate tasks to nursing staff to ensure quality care for residents.
2. Assess resident needs and develop individualized care plans.
3. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by healthcare providers.
4. Monitor resident progress and make adjustments to care plans as needed.
5. Communicate with families and healthcare team members to provide updates on resident status.
6. Ensure compliance with regulations and policies related to SNF care.
7. Participate in staff meetings and educational programs to stay current on best practices in nursing care.
8. Provide guidance and support to nursing staff in challenging situations.
9. Maintain accurate documentation of resident care and progress.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of employment.
2. Previous experience working in a SNF or long-term care setting.
3. Strong leadership and communication skills.
4. Ability to multitask and prioritize responsibilities.
5. Compassion and empathy for residents and their families.
6. Knowledge of Medicare and Medicaid regulations.
7. Proficiency in electronic health record systems.
8. BLS certification.
9. Critical thinking and problem-solving abilities.
