Job title: Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
Job Summary: The Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMHNP) is responsible for providing high-quality mental health care to patients in a variety of settings, including hospitals, outpatient clinics, and community mental health centers. The PMHNP assesses, diagnoses, and treats patients with mental health disorders, prescribes medications, and provides psychotherapy and counseling services.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Conduct comprehensive psychiatric evaluations to assess mental health needs
2. Develop and implement individualized treatment plans for patients with mental health disorders
3. Prescribe and monitor psychiatric medications
4. Provide therapy and counseling services to patients and their families
5. Collaborate with other healthcare providers to coordinate patient care
6. Monitor and evaluate treatment outcomes and adjust treatment plans as needed
7. Educate patients and their families about mental health disorders and treatment options
8. Participate in ongoing professional development and training
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Master's or Doctorate degree in psychiatric-mental health nursing
2. Current board certification as a Psychiatric-Mental Health Nurse Practitioner
3. State licensure as a nurse practitioner
4. Experience working with patients with mental health disorders
5. Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
6. Strong clinical assessment and diagnostic skills
7. Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team
