Job Title: NICU RN / Neonatal ICU Nurse
Job Summary:
The NICU RN is responsible for providing specialized care for newborns who are premature or have medical issues that require intensive care. They work in the neonatal intensive care unit (NICU) and collaborate with a team of healthcare professionals to ensure the best outcomes for their tiny patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Monitor and assess the health of newborns in the NICU
- Administer medications and treatment as prescribed by doctors
- Collaborate with doctors, respiratory therapists, and other healthcare professionals to create a comprehensive care plan for each newborn
- Educate parents on how to care for their baby and provide emotional support
- Keep accurate medical records and communicate updates to the healthcare team
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a sterile environment in the NICU
Qualifications and Skills:
- Registered Nurse (RN) license
- Bachelor's or Associate's degree in Nursing
- Certification in Neonatal Resuscitation Program (NRP) and Basic Life Support (BLS)
- At least 1 year of experience working in a NICU or pediatric setting
- Strong attention to detail and critical thinking skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
