Job Title: Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU)
Job Summary:
As a Post Anesthesia Care Unit Nurse (PACU), you will be responsible for providing care to patients recovering from anesthesia following surgery or medical procedures. You will monitor vital signs, administer medications, and ensure patients are stable and comfortable as they awaken from anesthesia. Your role is crucial in assessing and managing patients' recovery to ensure a safe and smooth transition to the next phase of care.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess patients' health status post-anesthesia and monitor vital signs.
2. Administer medications and pain management as needed.
3. Monitor for any signs of complications or adverse reactions to anesthesia.
4. Collaborate with the surgical team and other healthcare providers to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
5. Educate patients and their families on post-operative care and expectations.
6. Document patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in a timely and accurate manner.
7. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and their families during the recovery process.
8. Maintain a safe and sterile environment in the PACU.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license and certification in Post Anesthesia Care Nursing (PACU).
2. Prior experience in a PACU setting preferred.
3. Strong assessment and critical thinking skills.
4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
5. Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
6. Knowledge of anesthesia and post-operative care protocols.
7. Basic life support (BLS) and advanced cardiac life support (ACLS) certifications.
8. Ability to prioritize and multitask effectively.
