Job Title: Surgical Technologist
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Surgical Technologist to join our dynamic healthcare team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will play a vital role in assisting surgeons and nursing staff during surgical procedures. Your attention to detail, strong organizational skills, and ability to work well under pressure will contribute to ensuring a safe and efficient surgical environment for patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments, equipment, and supplies needed for procedures.
- Assist surgeons and other healthcare professionals before, during, and after surgical procedures, ensuring all necessary tools and supplies are readily available.
- Anticipate the needs of the surgical team, passing instruments, supplies, and equipment as needed.
- Maintain strict sterile techniques throughout surgical procedures, including gowning, gloving, and preparing sterile fields.
- Assist in the positioning and draping of patients according to surgical procedures and protocols.
- Prepare and maintain sterile surgical setups, ensuring proper sterilization and handling of instruments and equipment.
- Maintain accurate and complete documentation of procedures, equipment used, and patient information.
- Adhere to all safety protocols and infection control guidelines to mitigate the risk of infections during surgical procedures.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure all equipment and instruments are functioning properly and troubleshoot any issues that may arise.
- Clean and reassemble equipment and instruments for subsequent use, adhering to appropriate sterilization protocols.
- Assist nursing staff with patient transport and prep, including transferring patients to and from surgical tables or stretchers.
- Stay abreast of advancements in surgical technology and techniques, actively participating in continuing education programs and trainings.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program.
- Certification or licensure as a Surgical Technologist (CST or TS-C) from an accredited certifying organization.
- Demonstrated knowledge of surgical instruments, equipment, and surgical procedures.
- Strong understanding of aseptic techniques, infection control, and sterile processing.
- Excellent manual dexterity and hand-eye coordination.
- Ability to prioritize tasks and work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals.
- Attention to detail and strict adherence to protocols and safety guidelines.
- Ability to remain calm under pressure and effectively handle emergencies.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift/move heavy equipment and patients.
