Job Title: Anesthesia Technician
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Anesthesia Technician to join our healthcare team. As an Anesthesia Technician, you will work closely with anesthesiologists, nurses, and other surgical team members to ensure the safe and effective administration of anesthesia during medical procedures. Your primary responsibility will be to assist in the setup, calibration, operation, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies. The successful candidate will have a strong attention to detail, excellent communication skills, and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Assist in the preparation, calibration, and maintenance of anesthesia equipment and supplies.
- Ensure the availability and proper functioning of anesthesia machines, monitors, workstations, and related devices.
- Clean, disinfect, and sterilize anesthesia equipment before and after use.
- Assist anesthesia providers in the safe and accurate administration of medications and intravenous therapy.
- Monitor patient vital signs continuously during procedures and report any abnormalities to the anesthesia provider.
- Maintain accurate documentation of procedures, supplies used, and patient outcomes.
- Assist with positioning and transporting patients during induction and emergence from anesthesia.
- Collaborate with the surgical team to ensure patient safety and optimize patient outcomes.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a clean and organized work environment.
- Demonstrate proficiency in anesthesia technology, including troubleshooting and problem-solving.
- Stay updated on industry advancements, attend workshops, and participate in continuing education to enhance skills and knowledge.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an anesthesia technician training program preferred.
- Certification as a Certified Anesthesia Technician (Cer.A.T.) or Certified Anesthesia Technologist (Cer.A.T.T.) is highly desirable.
- Prior experience working as an Anesthesia Technician in a healthcare setting is preferred.
- Strong knowledge of anesthesia equipment, supplies, and procedures.
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, and ability to prioritize tasks.
- Effective communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team.
- Ability to work under pressure in a fast-paced environment and adapt to changes in surgical schedules.
- Understanding of infection control protocols and adherence to safety guidelines.
- Familiarity with electronic health record systems and proficiency in computer skills.
- Ability to lift and move heavy equipment, stand for extended periods, and bending and reaching to perform job duties.
