Job Title: Surgical Technologist (CVOR)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and experienced Surgical Technologist (CVOR) to join our team. As a Surgical Technologist, you will be responsible for assisting surgeons and other medical professionals during surgical procedures in the Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR). Your role will involve preparing the operating room, organizing surgical equipment and supplies, and anticipating the needs of the surgical team. You will also be involved in maintaining sterile conditions, handling surgical instruments, and providing support to patients.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and set up the operating room for surgical procedures in the CVOR
- Sterilize and organize surgical equipment, instruments, and supplies
- Assist in positioning and preparing patients for surgery
- Hand sterile instruments and supplies to surgeons during procedures
- Maintain a sterile and safe environment throughout the surgery
- Dispose of surgical waste and clean and restock the operating room after each procedure
- Monitor patient vital signs during surgery and report any changes to the medical team
- Assist with patient transportation to and from the operating room
- Collaborate with other members of the surgical team to ensure smooth and efficient operations
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and hygiene
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of an accredited Surgical Technologist program
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential highly preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience as a Surgical Technologist in a Cardiovascular Operating Room (CVOR) setting
- Proficient understanding of surgical procedures, equipment, and instruments used in CVOR surgeries
- Strong knowledge of sterilization techniques, infection control measures, and operating room protocols
- Excellent dexterity and hand-eye coordination to handle instruments and equipment with precision
- Good physical stamina and the ability to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects
- Attention to detail and the ability to work well under pressure in a fast-paced environment
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with the surgical team and patients
- Flexibility to work varying shifts, including evenings, weekends, and on-call
