Job Title: Emergency Room Nurse (ICU/ER Rotating RN)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and dedicated Emergency Room Nurse (ICU/ER Rotating RN) to join our team in providing exceptional care to patients in our fast-paced and high-pressure emergency department. As a vital member of our healthcare team, you will be responsible for assessing, prioritizing, and delivering comprehensive patient care to individuals experiencing medical emergencies. This role requires quick thinking, critical decision-making skills, and the ability to handle stressful situations with composure.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Conduct initial assessment of patients upon arrival in the emergency department, including triaging and determining acuity levels
- Perform ongoing monitoring and evaluation of patients' conditions, promptly identifying any changes or deterioration
- Administer medications, treatments, and procedures as prescribed, ensuring accuracy and adherence to established protocols
- Collaborate with physicians, specialists, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement appropriate care plans for patients
- Provide education and support to patients and their families regarding diagnoses, treatments, and post-discharge care
- Maintain accurate and complete electronic medical records, documenting all assessments, interventions, and patient responses
- Assist in emergency procedures, such as advanced cardiac life support (ACLS), trauma resuscitation, and other life-saving interventions
- Maintain compliance with all applicable healthcare regulations, safety standards, and infection control protocols
- Participate in continuing education and professional development activities to enhance knowledge and skills in emergency care
Qualifications and Skills:
- Valid Registered Nurse (RN) license in the state of practice
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- Minimum of 2 years of experience working in a high-acuity emergency department or intensive care unit (ICU)
- Proficient in performing advanced assessments, interpreting diagnostic results, and implementing appropriate interventions
- Demonstrated ability to remain calm and composed in high-pressure situations
- Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities, with a focus on patient advocacy
- Ability to work effectively as part of a multidisciplinary team
- Current certification in Basic Life Support (BLS), Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS), and Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS)
- Proficiency in electronic medical record (EMR) systems and other relevant technology
