Job Title: Surgical Technologist (Operating Room)
Job Summary:
We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Surgical Technologist to join our Operating Room team. As a Surgical Technologist, your main responsibility will be to assist surgeons, nurses, and other healthcare professionals in the operating room during surgical procedures. You will play a critical role in ensuring the smooth flow of operations and maintaining a sterile and safe environment. Your expertise in surgical equipment, instruments, and procedures will contribute to successful surgical outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
- Prepare and arrange surgical instruments and equipment prior to surgical procedures.
- Assist in the preparation and draping of patients for surgeries.
- Anticipate the needs of surgeons and other healthcare professionals during surgeries.
- Ensure all necessary supplies and equipment are present in the operating room.
- Hand instruments and supplies to the surgeon during procedures as needed.
- Perform surgical counts of instruments, sponges, and needles with the circulating nurse.
- Clean and sterilize instruments and equipment after use as per established protocols.
- Assist in the safe transportation of patients to and from the operating room.
- Collaborate with the healthcare team to maintain a sterile and organized operating room environment.
- Adhere to infection control protocols and maintain a high standard of cleanliness and safety in the operating room.
- Keep accurate and detailed records of all procedures performed.
- Participate in ongoing education and training to keep updated on the latest surgical techniques and technologies.
- Follow all hospital policies, procedures, and regulations.
Qualifications and Skills:
- High school diploma or equivalent. Completion of a Surgical Technology program preferred.
- Certified Surgical Technologist (CST) credential required.
- Previous experience working as a Surgical Technologist in an operating room setting is highly desirable.
- Knowledge of surgical procedures, instruments, and equipment.
- Familiarity with sterile techniques and infection control protocols.
- Ability to work well under pressure and in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and excellent hand-eye coordination.
- Effective communication and teamwork skills.
- Ability to anticipate and fulfill the needs of surgeons and other team members.
- Physical stamina to withstand long hours standing and assisting in surgeries.
- Commitment to patient safety and care.
