Job Title: Progressive Care (PCU) Registered Nurse
Job Summary:
The Progressive Care Unit (PCU) Registered Nurse provides high-quality nursing care to patients with complex medical conditions who are transitioning from intensive care to general hospital care. The PCU RN monitors patients closely, administers medications, and collaborates with a multidisciplinary team to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
Responsibilities and Duties:
1. Assess and monitor patient vital signs and conditions.
2. Administer medications and treatments as prescribed by physicians.
3. Educate patients and their families on disease management and treatment plans.
4. Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement patient care plans.
5. Document patient care and treatment in electronic medical records.
6. Respond quickly and effectively to emergency situations.
7. Provide emotional support and comfort to patients and families.
8. Monitor and manage telemetry equipment and interpret ECG readings.
9. Adhere to hospital policies and procedures to ensure patient safety and quality of care.
Qualifications and Skills:
1. Valid RN license in the state of practice.
2. Bachelor's degree in Nursing preferred.
3. Minimum of 2 years of experience in a progressive care or similar unit.
4. BLS and ACLS certifications.
5. Strong critical thinking and problem-solving skills.
6. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
7. Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced and high-stress environment.
8. Knowledge of electronic medical records and computer proficiency.
